May the ‘Force’ be with you! Rugby Force weekend update

Many thanks to all those people who came down to the Rugby workforce weekend it was a great success and the Club house is looking great.

Every year we have a weekend dedicated to cleaning and upgrading the Club and are supported by Nat West Bank along with a press reporter from the RFU as we were one of the Clubs nominated for a grant to help supply some of the equipment needed.

This year there was a lot of cleaning and throwing away of any accumulated rubbish both in the clubhouse and container – if you left a pair of match shorts or that trusted gum shield, chances are it’s no longer within the confines of Pinner RFC clubhouse!

A great turn out by 10am on Saturday morning ensured that many of the jobs were completed by early afternoon (bar was open!!)

Jobs completed were: Cleaning the bar area, cleaning the kitchen, cleaning the toilets, cleaning the changing rooms, replacement and repair of the gutters, weeding pathways, rendering to outside of the bar, scrubbing and cleaning of all glass and boot cleaning wall also  everywhere was given a fresh lick of paint.

As a little surprise we were rewarded with a fetching T shirt. Hopefully, if we are successful next year we can attract more helpers.

Pinner RFC Under 13’s Celebrate a great Season @ the Awards

Pinner RFC Under 13s ended their successful season as Division Champions with a certain panache at the End of Season Awards on Friday 7th June at the Shaftesbury Club House.

For something a little different and in keeping with the seniors’ tradition, Head Coach Steve George set all the players a challenge. The players had been given a budget of £5.00 to purchase an outfit from local charity shops, strange how many dresses could be bought for that amount!

The evening was a relaxed affair, the players spending the early part of it outside honing their rugby skills; seeing players tackling each other by grabbing nightdresses and flowing skirts was a little different!

There was great support from the parents who enjoyed a beer of two and spent the evening chatting about the seasons achievements and what the future holds; would the squad move up one or two divisions next season?

The togetherness of the squad was highlighted during the awards presentations, with all players receiving an award – the majority having a strong humorous content!

The following awards were given

Most Improved Player of the Season

Louis George

Coaches Player of the Season

Joseph Burling

Players Player of the Season

Freddy Hart

Other Awards went to the following:

Most injured: Jacob Talbot

Best butter fingers: George Tillett

Most Dramatic: Brandon Cotter

Tackle bag killer (mainly in training!) Thomas Barkshire

Most Committed: Dominic Boyden

Most Slippery member of the team: Kai Gordon

Thinks he’s a pretty boy!: Arthur Garvey

Most valuable player: Ryan Healy

Best Justin Bieber Impression: Charlie Gascoine

Most Inspirational use of the National Health System: Taylor Goodman

Biggest Hair: Dylan Kelly

The evening ended with pizza (the arrival of which saw what could only be described as a herd of wildebeest being chased by a pride of lions) and frolics whilst the adults watched on at the bar!

The challenge now really starts for the Under 13’s, summer fitness training, strengthening the squad and building on this seasons success, hopefully, continue where they finished the season.

Good afternoon,

We have released an unofficial Lions song & video. The first proper Lions song – not a stuffy anthem – a sing along rock n roll Rugby song.

The unofficial anthem for the 2013 British & Irish Lions in aid of The wooden Spoon children’s charity. The last time the Lions were down under their supporters out-numbered, out-sung and out-supported the locals. The Wallabies responded. The Voice of a Thousand Men is the Lions and the supporters secret weapon in 2013. A plea to the traveling supporters to carry with them the voices of the thousands supporting from home to help the boys to a famous series win.

We decided it was about time Rugby hit the charts, only 4 weeks ago and working day & night produced our Lions inspired version of the Swords of a Thousand Men originally by Tenpole Tudor back in the 80s and this time by our very own RUCK STARS.

Proceeds from sales of the track (on iTunes & Amazon from 69p!) go to The Wooden Spoon Rugby children’s charity.

My humble request is that you help us to spread the word.

- Watch and share the video on You Tube

- post the video on your Club Facebook page or website

- Retweet our tweets (for those familiar with Twitter!) and follow us  @voiceof1000men

- play the track in your club ( I can supply point of sale / posters) DVDs / CDs for Lions events you are running

- Promote the Tee shirt we will be launching in a few days time again with proceeds to Wooden Spoon

Any questions or ideas do email or call me.

Thanks for your indulgence

Warm Regards

Neil

Rugby Force Weekend Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th June

Pinner RFC have been successful in their bid to be part of the rugby force nationwide community volunteer programme which helps local rugby clubs to improve their facilities. It is an opportunity for clubs to gather members, supporters, friends and family for a weekend of fun-filled diy.

The first 100 registered clubs received a support pack including a commemorative plaque.

So what’s going to be happening?

We will need an army of volunteers with definite promises from those who can come. A list of skills and tools and equipment that you have would be helpful in ensuring that the days are used effectively and not just a chance to socialise and have a few beers. Someone to organise catering plus a possible bbq on one of the days would be much appreciated.  We are looking at starting each day at least by 10am.

We would like every member of Pinner RFC to make the time to come down to the clubhouse during the weekend to offer their support, including players of all  sections – seniors, pelicans, youth and mini also friends are more than welcome, in fact the more the merrier – many hands make light work etc etc
