Dear Parents,
Great to see a full house at training on Sunday & a big welcome to our new players – I hope they enjoyed it.
The early morning frost soon melted away and we had some muddy but playable conditions. We were visited by Haringey Rhinos, who bought a depleted team of 3 along to train with us.
We concentrated on the basics this week, catching, moving into space and passing (Piggy in the Middle) & scoring tries. I think it worked really well that we could split the players into smaller groups (once I worked out how to!), so they  could all be engaged and involved throughout the session.
After a long session of Bulldog, which finished off with a Haringey / Springbok final, we split into two groups for some friendly games of Tag, with a mainly-U6 game on the smaller pitch and a mixed Pinner / Haringey game on the larger pitch. The latter was a close fought game,  with the Eagles taking an 2-try lead into half time. The T-Rex’s fought back really well and run out eventual winners.
My player of the week this week is Leo, who had a really positive, engaged session and scored some good tries in the final game. Great to have your name on the ball!
Thanks to all the parents for coaching support this week, I think it makes a real difference to the sessions.
Next Sunday 19/01/14, we are away at Twickenham for a joint session with Twickenham and Hillingdon Abbots. This should be the same venue as our trip in December. Tracy will confirm the details later this week.
One final point – a few of the players were suffering from cold hands this week. The weather isn’t going to improve for a few weeks, so please bring them prepared for a couple of hours outside. I have got no problem with hats & gloves as long as they can still catch the ball and run!
Have a great week. As always, please mail me if you have any questions or comments.
